Consider Your Brand
The first step to creating a logo is thinking about what you want your brand to convey. After all, the logo is the thing that people are going to most strongly associate with your brand and remember when they’re considering your services. You need to make sure that the symbol you choose is both relevant to your services and simple enough to be memorable to consumers.
This means that you need to ask yourself a few questions:
- What adjectives would you use to describe your brand? How can you convey the tone of these descriptors in your image?
- Where are you going to place your logo (on your website, in your office, on your promotional products by teamconceptprinting.com, etc)?
- How can you incorporate your brand voice into your logo?
- What images will relate to the sorts of services that you provide?
Think About Goals and Objectives
Next, you’ll want to think about your objectives for making a logo. If you want to be memorable above all else, a minimalist aesthetic is probably the way to go. Using only simple images and one or two colors is a great way to stick in the minds of viewers.
However, if you want to convey a lot of brand information in your image, you may want something a bit more complex. These are the situations where you may want to add a short 2-5 word slogan to the bottom or side of your image.
You can have either a logo that represents your brand by showcasing your services or a logo that makes a joke based on your name. An example of the former is American Airline’s plane wing. Apple is a great example of a successful logo that falls under the latter category.
Come Up With Concept Sketches
Once you’ve decided where you want to go with your logo, it’s time to create preliminary sketches for it! No matter what your level of artistic talent is, you can sketch out a simple design for your logo. This can be shown to professional designers later so that they can get a clearer picture of what you want.
If you have a bit more artistic talent (or have a colleague who does), you may also want to create a vector graphic of your logo!
Hire a Professional
Once you have a simple sketch of what you want your logo to look like, hire a professional graphic designer for feedback on your design. Not only will these people be able to provide expert advice, but they also will be able to help you refine and tweak your design. This is the first step to launching your logo and building your brand both online and in person.
