The recently suspended leader of the anti-abortion group Priests for Life, Frank Pavone, compared supporting abortion rights to supporting terrorism in a blog post published yesterday.
Pavone was recently suspended from carrying out his anti-abortion activism outside of his diocese because of alleged âfinancial improprieties.â Anti-abortion groups around the country are outraged over the decision.
While suspended from working outside Amarillo, Texas, Right Wing Watch points out that Pavone is still posting messages at his Priests for Life blog.
In a post yesterday, Pavone compared supporting abortion rights to supporting terrorism:
Voters who arenât sure the life issue is the most important issue for a candidate should consider a candidateâs position on terrorism.
âWhat if a candidate supported terrorism,â Father Pavone asked. âWould citizens say, âWell, I disagree with you on terrorism, but whatâs your health care plan? Maybe we can work together on some social programs. After all, terrorism isnât the only issue.â
âThe heart of what is âsocialâ is that it respects the other person â and that means allowing them the right to life.â
Pavone is among the most radical anti-abortion advocates in the country. He took part in the racially charged âpro-life freedom ridesâ demonstration and has accused Planned Parenthood of âtargeting the abortion of black babies.â He said the chain of womenâs clinics âis eager and willing to cover up the prostitution enslavement of young girls â including minorities â so long as they make money doing it.â
