Presidential candidate Rick Santorum is headed to Sarasota later this month, for a grassroots rally with local tea party groups.
According to a press release sent out today, Santorum will be appearing at a rally (which is free to attend) held on Jan. 29 at Sarasota’s Dolphin Aviation. The event is hosted by the Republican Parties of Sarasota, Hardee, Charlotte and DeSoto Counties, as well as several other Republican and tea party groups.
The rally does not equal an endorsement, however and, according to the hosts, they have yet to take a side in the presidential primary.
The press release urges Republicans to attend the rally so they can have personal access to a presidential candidate, “rather than allowing the media and negative ads to define the candidate for you.” Further, reads the release, “a strong attendance at this rally will not go unnoticed by the other campaigns and it will encourage them to visit our area.”
The rally will be held only two days before Florida’s presidential primary. A debate between the Republican candidates will be held on Jan. 26 in Jacksonville.
