During the summer here, you’ll be able to view wildlife, camp, fish, ride horses, climb, boulder, and enjoy beautiful mountain views.

During the winter months, most of the roads will be open. During this time, people come here to ski, hike in the snow, walk on frozen lakes, or take a ranger-led tour throughout the park.

2. Denver

Denver, the capital of Colorado, is one of the most unique cities in the United States.

Denver has become an urban metropolis that has all kinds of things for a fun, touristy weekend.

While you’re there, you should make sure you check out the 16th Street Mall, a semi-outdoor mall right in the heart of the city.

You can also check out City Park, Coors Field, or head to Union Station.

3. Breckenridge

Breckenridge is about 65 miles west of Denver, and it’s a small historic mining town. However, during skiing season, the traffic really picks up.

There are over 2,300 acres that you can ski on, and there are four major mountain peaks on the southern border.

A lot of the ski resorts are new and renovated as well.

The Great Sand Dunes National Park is incredibly unique and should definitely be included on your bucket list.

You’ll have to travel a few hours south of Denver to get there, but it’s worth it.

You can hike, ski, sled, or sand-board on these dunes for a one-of-a-kind experience. There are medium and large slopes to suit anyone whether they’ve had experience or not.

5. Mesa Verde National Park

The Mesa Verde National Park is full of cliff dwellings and stunning views.

The Cliff Palace is the center of this park, and the ruins are well-preserved. You can take a guided tour through here to let you climb up the ladders and actually go into these ancient homes.

If you don’t feel like doing that, you can always just enjoy a panoramic view of it.
