Human Life International has revamped its website, prochoiceviolence.com. According to the group, the site “provides extensive research on the surprising amount of violence perpetrated by abortionists and the proponents of ‘choice,’ compared to the relatively few violent crimes committed by ‘pro-life’ advocates.”

The site includes a 35-page introduction that explains things such as “the difference between ‘pro-life’ violence and ‘pro-choice’ violence” and how “the pro-life movement [is] the most peaceful social movement of all time.” The site says that “homosexual activists… environmental and animal rights activists… anti-apartheid activists… communists… and unions” are far more violent than “pro-lifers” have been.

Dr. Brian Clowes, director of research for HLI, and lead researcher for HLI’s “Pro-Choice Violence” project, had the following to say upon the launch of the site:

“If people truly understood how backwards the media narrative is regarding the supposed intolerance and violence of pro-lifers, compared to that of ‘pro-choicers,’ we would be having a very different conversation about abortion in our nation today. Pro-lifers should learn the truth about how peaceful their movement really is, although most know by experience; and by comparison, how many crimes are committed by abortionists and those who defend their ability to destroy innocent human life.

The anti-abortion website LifeNews.com also wrote up the site’s update:

The main body of the site consists of a state-by-state and city-by-city listing of more than eleven thousand documented incidents of “pro-choice” violence and lawbreaking, from mass murder, rape, arson, cannibalism, kidnapping and maiming to cheating in sports events, animal neglect and cruelty, indecent exposure, child sexual molestation and bank robbery. Each incident is backed up by references so that “pro-choice” people cannot claim the site is mere “anti-choice propaganda.”

This is the largest compendium of “pro-choice” violence ever assembled. Even pro-lifers are astonished when they see hard evidence that “pro choicers” have committed more than 300 murders since Roe v. Wade and an incredible 192 murders just since the year 2000, most of these against women who refuse their demands to have abortions. Add to this the at least 550 fatal botched abortions committed by abortionists, and we can see that the “pro-choice” movement is responsible for more than 850 deaths since Roe v. Wade. In fact, “pro choicers” have averaged more murders per year since 1985 than supposed “pro lifers” have in the history of the entire conflict over abortion.

But, of course, all we hear about in the press is the people killed by allegedly “pro-life” people. Not surprisingly, abortionists, whose entire business is killing, are the most violent members of the “pro-choice” movement. They have murdered their wives, butchered women during abortions and walked away to let them die; some have even committed such hideous crimes as cannibalism and the production of child pornography. This database provides detailed information on the crimes committed by more than 350 abortionists, from Mehrdad Aalai to Theresa Zumwalt.

The site’s state-by-state reports of “pro-choice violence” are scattered accounts of criminal activity that includes unlicensed doctors performing botched abortions, violent men forcing their girlfriends to have an abortion, etc. Most of the accounts, however, have little to do with a “pro-choice movement.” Most of the accounts are random acts of crime that involve abortions.

The site makes some considerable stretches in this attempt — and there are many examples of this scattered throughout the site.

Here is an excerpt of one report from a “sexual battery case” in Panama City, Fla., that the site claims is “pro-choice violence”:

This is another example of the dozens of cases described in this database where child molesters find that abortion is their best friend. It allows them to “erase” the physical evidence of their crimes and continue to molest their victims. Abortion mills almost never report such molestation. In fact, “pro-choice” groups routinely battle any attempt to make abortion clinics mandatory reporters so that they would be required to report such molestation. “Pro-choice” principal David Creel lived in Georgia, and in 1976 moved to Panama City, Florida and became a teacher at Mosley and Bay High Schools before becoming Assistant Principal at Jinks Middle School in 1983. Then, he became principal of the New Horizons Learning Center when it opened in 1997. On October 9, 2006, a woman e-mailed members of the School Board, claiming that Creel had started to have sex with her in 1982, when she was only 15 and attending Bay High School. She became pregnant, and Creel paid her to have an abortion. After graduation, she said he helped her get a job at Everitt Middle School.

The website’s homepage also features a video being circulated by Operation Rescue. The video is alleged of a woman who was “post-abortive” assaulting an anti-abortion rights activist outside of a clinic. Operation Rescue says the videotaping began “after the attack began, but images he captured show an angry and violent flurry of punches and kicks as the pro-lifers threw up their arms in a defensive posture.”

The site was relaunched just as an anti-abortion activist was convicted of “stalking” an abortion provider in North Carolina. Philip “Flip” Benham is no longer allowed to even repeat the doctor’s name he was stalking due to a lawsuit filed by the physician he targeted on posters. The posters reportedly read: “Wanted … By Christ, to Stop Killing Babies,” The American Independent reports. He was recently sentenced to 18 months probation.

The American Independent also reported that when asked about the recent ruling, Operation Rescue’s Troy Newman said “he is tired of abortion rights groups blaming Operation Rescue for violence against abortion providers”:

Abortion-rights activists are also guilty of violence, he said, noting that his office has been vandalized and that his staff has received threats. He also mentioned his friend and colleague Jim Pouillon, an anti-abortion rights activist who was murdered in front of an Owosso, Mich., high school on Sept. 11, 2009. (Harlan James Drake was first deemed unfit to stand trial for the murder of Pouillon and another man — unrelated to the anti-abortion rights movement — the same day. He later testified that he was the killer and is now serving life in prison. )

Operation Rescue and other members of the anti-abortion movement are gearing up for a big event in Maryland that targets another abortion provider, LeRoy Carhart. The last time a similar event was held, the focus was on abortion provider George Tiller. Tiller was eventually murdered by anti-abortion activists in Kansas in 2009.
