A poll released by the Florida Chamber of Commerce Political Institute Friday shows Gov. Charlie Crist leading former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate 42-31 percent — the largest margin for Crist since he announced his run as a no-party candidate in late April. Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek came in third in the poll; however, his nomination is by no means secure as he is in a virtual tie with billionaire Jeff Greene in the party’s primary. (The Chamber of Commerce poll did not include Greene.)

The poll also shows former health-care executive Rick Scott leading Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum in the Republican primary for governor 35-30 percent. When asked what issue that was most important for the governor and state legislature to deal with, 31 percent said jobs and the economy, 15 percent said education and the oil spill and 6 percent said immigration and property taxes.
