Marc Jeffrey Moore is the new field director for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Miami Field Office. #
ICE recently announced that “Moore will oversee all of ICE’s enforcement and removal functions, operations and detainees within Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and more than 600 ICE employees.” #
The Spanish-language daily El Nuevo Herald reported today that #
#
in an interview on Wednesday from his Plantation office in Broward County, Moore explained he aims to emphasize the deportation of convicted foreigners, but without ignoring those who have no arrest records. #
Citing a recent memo issued in Washington by John Morton, ICE national director, Moore said this [memo], “does not say we will not arrest individuals who do not have arrest records. It says we will focus our priorities to secure the safety of our communities. The criminals are first but we also have the obligation to guarantee effective enforcement of immigration law.” #
The Miami Field Office manages ICE detainees at ICE’s Krome Service Processing Center, Broward Transitional Center, The Glades County Detention Center, Baker County Detention Center, MDC Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, Monroe County Detention Center, and the Wakulla County Detention Facility. It also oversees field offices in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Stuart, Tallahassee, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Moore Haven, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. #
