The average life expectancy in the United States is just shy of 79 years. While that’s a number that has gone up steadily over time, it’s also one that many hope to continue improving.

One of the key elements that play into living a long and healthy life is one’s ability to heal from injury, disease, and other affronts to their bodies. That begs the question, how can one promote natural healing within themselves?

Ask that question to 10 doctors and you may very well get 10 different answers. To distill that varying information, our team has put together what we’ve found to be common threads of advice in the natural healing conversation.

Keep reading to learn how to live life better.

1. Sleep Well

Sleep Well

Sleep is one of the core bodily functions that promote healing over the course of a day. While you’re awake, your body can’t focus on fighting disease or repairing broken tissue to the extent you would like because it’s busy processing information you’re taking in at work, school, and in your personal life.

The more sleep you get, the more time you give your body to deal with getting you brushed up and polished for the following day. We recommend at least 8 hours of sleep if you can swing it.

2. Eat Better

Sleeping well is important but eating may take the cake when it comes to how you can support your body in healing naturally. Empty foods like cookies, Twinkies, and the like are void of nutrients and don’t give your body the fuel it requires to run its healing processes optimally.

Compare that to vitamin and nutrient-rich foods like your foundational vegetables, fruits, and meats, and you can see and feel immediately the difference.

Eating well doesn’t have to feel like rocket science. If it does to you, join an online eating community that can help steer you towards the right meals. Many of them are free!

You might even consider working with a nutritionist.

3. Isolate Your Injury

Isolate Your Injury

Are you trying to heal a physical injury? If you are, giving that injured area focus in your resting habits can help it move through its healing.

Let’s take a gashed arm for example. Wrapping your gash appropriately and then slinging your arm to reduce its movement will help it fare much better than if you were using your arm, and consequently, stretching your gash.

It can be hard to deal with partial immobilization, even when you’re trying to heal. Still, it’s important to stay disciplined and to give your wounds the space they need to recover.

4. Look for Natural Aides

Natural healing doesn’t have to come solely from within yourself. There are plenty of natural aides that you can use to help speed up your healing process.

If you’ve ever been burned, you may know that the aloe vera plant’s natural juices can be smeared over burn areas providing instant pain relief and also healing support.

5. Sit/Move Right

This natural healing tip is a little more of an art than a science but it’s well reported that knowing how to move can help keep your body in better overall condition and may promote healing.

When you sit down for work, are you sitting with your back straight and chin up? Do you stand periodically? Not doing things like that can impede your body’s ability to perform and feel its best.

The art of movement and posture falls under the science of kinesiology. Consider working with a professional on this front if you’re not sure where to start with improving your movements.

Professionals have the ability to train your posture, log your improvements in cloud based software, and ultimately, move you towards your goals.

6. Stay Positive

The mind is a powerful yet often forgotten aide when it comes to improving all aspects of your life, healing included. This is why positive people tend to live much longer (and certainly happier) lives than those that are negative.

Improving positivity can be done in any number of ways. Positive affirmations are a great place to start. You might also want to surround yourself with positive people that enrich your ability to socialize.

7. Relax Your Mind

Relax Your Mind

Expanding on empowering your mind to help your healing, meditation is an excellent way to reduce bodily stress and allow your being to focus more on improvement.

Several meditation variants are worth trying. We like mindfulness meditation which you can learn more about here. A lot of people also swear by transcendental medication.

8. Laugh a Whole Bunch

Have you ever heard the saying that laughter is the best medicine? If you haven’t, you have now and we recommend that you make those words to live by.

Watch funny movies. Stop taking the world so seriously. Pair up with people that prioritize having a good time over ruminating on everything bad about life.

With positive influences and a disposition towards having a good laugh whenever possible, your body will work more productively to keep you in great shape.

Natural Healing Works

When some people hear “natural healing”, they think of it as being among those alternative treatments that are targeted at unrealistic people. We believe that improving your natural healing abilities and leveraging them alongside your physician’s other recommendations can empower you to live your best life.

If that’s of interest to you, start taking natural healing seriously!
