Lately I haven’t been in the mood to wear any makeup, but the one thing I can’t go without is lipstick or lip gloss. I’ve learned that one easy way that you can look fresh and polished is to simply just wear dark lipstick.
During the Fall/Winter 2016 runway shows in New York, NARS created beauty looks for several fashion brands, but the ones that stood out for me were the Rodarte and Creatures of the Wind beauty looks because of the dramatic lips.
From the Rodarte show NARS makeup artist James Kaliardos created a romantic look with a contrast of deep color using Liv Audacious Lipstick with Train Bleu Velvet Matte Pencil…
I don’t know if I’m bold enough yet to go for a super dark lip, but I love the idea of staying with a clean, natural look on the rest of the face.
My favorite is the NARS beauty look for the Creatures of the Wind runway show that was created by Mark Carrasquillo who shared his inspiration:
“I was inspired by a young Hispanic girl in New York. She’s really confident and likes herself – she doesn’t entertain all the makeup tricks “contour, foundation & powder” she goes straight for a strong lip. This is a sophisticated update on the heavily-lined lip from the 90’s. I played with the color and application on the lips, kept the rest of the face clean and bare, and brushed gloss through her brows to keep it young. It’s beauty with attitude.”
