If you are wondering how to find out if I am part of a class-action lawsuit read on. We are going to share how to find class-action lawsuits, both current and unclaimed.
How to Find Out If I Am Part of a Class-Action Lawsuit
When a class action lawsuit begins, potential members receive notification through either mail, email, or newspaper listings. The notice will advise if you need to take any steps to be part of any potential settlement.
Even if you do not receive notice, you may still be able to take part in the settlement. This will vary from case to case but is well worth checking out. The Consumer Action Class Action Database is an excellent source of active lawsuits.
At the time of this writing it had 34 class-action suits listed, including the following:
Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc. has a settlement for consumers who purchased Kotex Tampons between March 8, 2013 to November 19, 2019. Eligible claimants may receive a payment of $6 for each purchase. The claim deadline is August 18, 2020.
Proctor & Gamble has a settlement for New York customers purchasing Charmin Freshmates Flushable Wipes between May 23, 2011 to March 6, 2020. The claim deadline is Saturday, August 22, 2020.
Electrolux has a settlement for dryers manufactured between January 1, 2002 and December 31, 2011 with a defect causing them to catch fire. Consumers may receive reimbursement for future dryer fires. The claim deadline is December 31, 2022.
There are numerous lawsuits that have closed but are still available for eligible persons to receive payouts. ClassAction.org is an excellent resource to check for possible lawsuits you can file a claim with.
Once the claim deadline expires the company that was sued is able to reclaim that money as their own. Here are some of the current unclaimed settlements:
McDonald’s has a settlement for non-managerial employees of their California corporate restaurant who were working between January 24, 2009 and March 4, 2020. The claim deadline is July 31, 2020.
Infinity Indemnity Insurance has a settlement for Florida clients filing a minimum of one claim for services or treatment after November 15, 2020. The claim deadline is August 31, 2020.
General Electric has a settlement for shattering microwave doors available to customers purchasing microwaves with model numbers beginning with ZMC1095, ZMC1090, JEB1095, or JEB1090 between the dates of January 1, 1995 to January 15, 2020. The claim deadline is October 14, 2020.
Obtaining Advance Payout
There are some companies that are willing to pay in advance on an anticipated cash settlement from a lawsuit. The amount of money they will provide is based on the type of case and its merit. If you are in need of cash and are part of a class-action lawsuit, this is certainly an option worth looking into.
