Cash is flowing freely in the race for Florida attorney general: Republican candidate and Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp announced his campaign has broken the $1 million mark for campaign contributions.

With matching state funds, Kottkamp says he has a $1.1 million war chest. In direct and in-kind contributions, Kottkamp has raised $884,000, his campaign said.

The lieutenant governor is leading all Republican candidates in direct and in-kind contributions, with opponents Pam Bondi at $713,000 and Holly Benson at $637,000. The three square off in the Republican primary Aug. 24.

Meanwhile, two Democrats running for attorney general are already dwarfing Republican direct and in-kind contributions in that party’s primary race. Voting is also Aug. 24.

Democrat candidate Dave Aronberg is leading the field with $1.3 million in contributions, with his opponent, Dan Gelber, not far behind at $1.2 million in contributions. Independent candidate Jim Lewis has raised $13,000.
