Alex Sink — Democratic gubernatorial candidate and current Florida Chief Financial Officer — will choose Rod Smith as her running mate, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The Sun-Sentinel posted late Monday evening that

Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink will choose a former state attorney and Gainesville state senator Rod Smith to be her running mate for governor in a pre-primary announcement Thursday in West Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach Post noted that “Sink’s campaign wouldn’t confirm the news other than to say Sink would be in the city [West Palm Beach] for a ‘special announcement’ at 10 a.m.”

Real Clear Politics polling average for Aug. 2-11 shows Sink leading Republican gubernatorial candidates Rick Scott and Bill McCollum.
