Former Vice President Al Gore is scheduled to attend a campaign rally held by U.S. Senate hopeful Democrat Kendrick Meek next week.

Gore is slated to appear with Meek at Letter Carriers HallΒ in Tampa on Sept. 30 in an effort to solidify the Democratic base, and try to chip away at support for independent candidate Gov. Charlie Crist near his home base of St. Petersburg.

Vice President Joe Biden is also expected to appear with Meek at a Hollywood fundraiser for the Florida Democtratic Party Friday, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Meek is running against Crist and Republican candidate Marco Rubio in the Nov. 2 general election.
