Over 700 million people currently have an iPhone — which means that 700 million of us have experienced the agony of a low battery warning.

It’s no fun watching your iPhone battery dwindle down to 20%, 10%, and then finally, to nothing.

Want to know how to extend iPhone battery life, so that you don’t have to leave the cult of Apple?

Keep on reading this post to learn how to make it happen.

We’ll also fill you in on the kinds of accessories you can buy to protect your phone in the first place.

1. Use Low Power Mode

The easiest way to avoid iPhone battery drain is to put your phone on “Low Power Mode.”

Just go to your settings, scroll down until you see “Battery,” and click on the icon. Then, you can slide your button to the right on the second option, “Low Power Mode,” to extend iPhone battery life.

2. Quit Out of Unused Applications

Even if you’re not currently using any applications, they could still be running in the background and draining your battery life.

Internet access apps, Google Maps, and any kind of music application are all responsible for an iPhone 6 battery drain (and an even greater loss of battery on older models.)

To close out of them, click the round button at the bottom of your phone twice, and then swipe up to quit.

3. Turn Off Bluetooth

Does Bluetooth drain battery on your iPhone?

Though it’s certainly useful, it absolutely kills your battery life.

So, unless you’re connecting your phone to the stereo in your car or to wireless headphones, we suggest you turn off the feature.

You can do this by swiping up on your phone to pull up the smaller settings menu. Then, click the Bluetooth icon until it’s no longer blue.

4. Turn Down Screen Brightness

Another awesome way to extend your iPhone’s battery life — without having to quit out of any applications — is to just turn down your screen brightness.

The easiest way to do this is to swipe up on your phone, as you did when you wanted to turn off your Bluetooth. You’ll see an icon that has a sun on it. If it’s turned all the way up (the white bar is at the top) it’s on full brightness and draining your battery.

Just take your finger and drag down the brightness.

5. Take Care of Your Phone

Sometimes, the best way to extend the life of your iPhone and its battery is to properly protect it.

The same thing goes with any of your other tech gear.

This means investing in things like an iPhone 7 Waterproof Case, locking it into an armband when running, and avoiding touching the phone with dirty hands
