Priorities USA Action today released an ad it says reveals Mitt Romney’s ties to Big Oil companies. According to Priorities, dedicated to protecting progressive leaders against what they call “misleading attacks,” the true motivation for Big Oil’s criticism of President Obama is to elect Mitt Romney, who the group says “stands to protect Big Oil’s profits at the expense of middle class Americans.”

Ron Paul, R-Texas, into the presidential race is bad news for former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson, since the two will compete for similar voters in the Republican primary. However, a former Giuliani speechwriter and the staffers at High Times, the magazine devoted to marijuana, both agree that Johnson is the better choice between the two longshot libertarian Republicans.

During a scheduled news conference in New Hampshire early Thursday, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson announced his candidacy for president of the United States. Johnson served as governor from 1995 to 2003, when he could no longer run due to term limits.
