In prepping for 2012 Republican convention, Tampa host committee repped by mega-law firm (Corrected)
A global law firm announced from its Tampa office it will represent the 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee during its preparations for the 2012 Republican National Convention.
Holland & Knight officials announced Tuesday the firm was selected by the Host Committee to handle legal matters for the nonprofit charged with handling convention logistics and fundraising for the Republic National Committee.
Officials announced the firm has already conducted negotiations relating to the Host Committee’s major agreements, including those with the Republican National Committee and the owners and operators of the St. Pete Times Forum, where the convention will be held the week of Aug. 27, 2012.
Former Gov. Bob Martinez — a senior policy advisor for Holland & Knight in Tampa — is sure to play in a role in the firm’s efforts. Correction: A Holland & Knight representative has informed The Florida Independent that Martinez will not be working with the firm in its dealings with the host committee.
“The RNC is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the city of Tampa — bringing one of the largest economic opportunities to the city,” stated former Gov. Bob Martinez, a senior policy advisory for Holland & Knight in Tampa, in a press release. “Working with the Host Committee will allow our many practice groups in assisting them in all of its matters.”
Holland & Knight is a global law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers in 17 U.S. offices as well as Abu Dhabi, Beijing and Mexico City.
