Radiance/Black Prolife Coalition: Abortion providers ‘the #1 killer’ of African-Americans

The National Black Prolife Coalition and The Radiance Foundation released their latest in a series of videos on Tuesday, this time claiming that Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics are “the #1 killer of black Americans.”

The one-minute video, titled “Number one killer,” claims that, within the black community, “deaths outnumber life.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the most recent number of live births in the African-American community (for 2008) was 623,029. A study performed by the Guttmacher Institute shows that the number of abortions in the African-American community during that year was nearly half that.

The video goes on to claim that diabetes, HIV, cancer, kidney disease, heart disease and homicide combined are all outnumbered by abortion.

Of the 1.2 million abortions performed in 2008, 30 percent occurred among black women. The Guttmacher study showed that 41 percent of women obtaining abortions have incomes below the federal poverty level ($10,830 for a single woman with no children) and that three-fourths of those studied cited a lack of money as their reasoning behind their abortions.

From an article on LifeSiteNews.com:

New York City, the home of Planned Parenthood, aborts nearly 60% of all black pregnancies, a rate alarmingly high in proportion to whites and Hispanics. However, pro-abortion activists frequently denounce efforts to address the black community’s abortion epidemic as “racist.”

“Pro-abortion groups cry racism and misogyny because they know they can’t speak to the facts,” said Ryan Bomberger of The Radiance Foundation, the organization that created the video series. “They’ve tried to remove our TooManyAborted.com billboards and crush free speech instead of halting over 363,000 innocent lives needlessly crushed in the black community.”

The Radiance Foundation has been actively campaigning against Planned Parenthood. The group has placed controversial billboards across the country — some of which compare abortion to slavery. A slew of videos have also been released. One of the group’s latest calls out black leaders for “allowing political and personal gain to monumentally shift their consciences” when it comes to abortion.
