Florida attorney general ad features guns, badges
In the first television commercial to air in the race for Florida attorney general, Republican candidate Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp offers little room for interpretation. The 30-second spot (which you can watch after the jump) features a series of what appear to be law enforcement officers loading weapons while the narrator touts the state’s top cop as having received the support of the Florida Police Benevolent Association and the Fraternal Order of Police, as well as 21 of the 28 Republican county sheriffs.
“The campaign enters a new phase today as we take our message to the airwaves and let Republican voters know why I’m law enforcement’s choice to be Florida’s next attorney general,” said Kottkamp. “Going on TV allows us to communicate directly with voters and continues our positive momentum as we head to the Aug. 24 Republican primary.”
Kottkamp is in a tight GOP race for the primary with former Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi and former Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Holly Benson.
A well-timed web video was also released Tuesday morning by attorney general candidate and state Sen. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, who himself faces a tough race for his party’s primary nomination against Sen. Dave Aronberg, D-Greenacres. From Gelber’s campaign website:
It’s a short bio of Dan that highlights his decades of public service and why his experience makes him the candidate the Republican machine doesn’t want to see as the Democratic nominee.
