Every Friday here at The Florida Independent, we pick out the best comments we received during the previous week, whether they came from commenters here on our site, or via Facebook and Twitter. Want to be included next week? Assail us with your rapier wit!

In response to “West calls for ‘censoring’ news outlets working with WikiLeaks”:

Any criminal activity should be censored. —Joseph L Cool

What criminal activity, what law has been broken? You idiots have been totally bamboozled by the corrupt that are trying to hide their bad deeds. The only person that broke a law was the enlisted kid that Berkley is trying to protect. —Ballm95

Dear Allan: We have the right to know as citizens. Censoring news is not the answer. —Silviahall

In response to “Nestle draws fire for plans to pump more water from North Florida springs”:

Even with a permit, what gives Nestle the right to just take the water. The rights of the people, local farmers and local businesses who depend upon this watershed come first. Not to mention the other living creatures that depend upon the ecosystem of the Wakissa River for their survival. —Great Lakes Beach bum

In response to “Huckabee signs letter supporting organizations designated as ‘hate groups’”:

This is a perfect example of bigotry. That’s correct. Bigotry against the gay community. It is most curious that the letter claims to “start debating, not hating.” But there is never any debate with these Christian bigots. It is their way or “go to Hell” and that is not debate. Their lies cause more hate than anything the Southern Poverty Law center accuses them of. It is sickening too, that they will allow “vigorous but RESPONSIBLE” exercise of free speech. Problem is, they define responsible as “agreeing with them” and it shows their level of hatred for debate and gays. —Rmuse

In response to “As budget picture worsens, Florida seeks savings on Medicaid”:

To Rick Scott’s comment, “Medicaid’s killing all of our state budgets,” there is this to say: “Legislators are killing all of our state residents!!!” Medicaid is not the problem. Sky rocketing health care costs and an economic recession are. —Lisag
