Fla. joins federal pollution settlement against homebuilder
Florida is one of several states to join in a settlement against a major U.S. homebuilder authorities say violated the Clean Water Act.
Atlanta-based Beazer Homes USA, Inc. Thursday agreed to a $925,000 civil penalty for violations at its construction sites in 21 states, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The government filed a complaint against Beazer claiming the company violated the Clean Water Act in a “pattern of violations” of stormwater regulations, according to a DOJ press release.
U.S. Department of Justice officials filed the complaint in Tennessee, which was also joined by Florida, Colorado, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada and Virginia, according to the press release.
